Group berates Idoma national assembly members over poor performance.

A non-governmental organization, Idoma Renaissance, IR has lampooned members of the National Assembly of Idoma extraction for ineffective performance  to their constituencies.

The group lamented that despite the huge financial resources allocated to the National Assembly by the executive under the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the federal lawmakers have failed to meet the expectations of their constituents.

The group therefore, vowed that any non-performing lawmaker will not be re-elected to National Assembly in 2027.

This was contained in a statement signed by Johnson Ogwuche and Philip Okoh, President and Secretary of the group, which was made available to the media Monday.

The Idoma Renaissance therefore expressed dismay that despite billions of naira released to national lawmakers as constituency and project allocations, the people are yet to see the impact of their representation.

He cited Sen David Jimkuta, a first time Senator representing APC, Taraba South as a model of effective and people-oriented representation, noting that recently, he executed a mega empowerment programme distributing  cars, motorcycles, refrigerators, sewing machines, grinding machines and other business equipment to his constituents. 

The group observed that over 1,000 constituents across all LGAs of Taraba South benefited from Sen

Jimkuta initiative and gesture which was designed to reduce unemployment and boost small businesses in line with President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, RHA. 

"This is what representation should look like. When public funds are released, the people must see tangible results," the group stated.

The Idoma Renaissance intimated that it has constitued an Assessment Committee to critically review constituency funds released to lawmakers vis-à-vis visible projects on ground.

"We are challenging all National Assembly members to come out and present their scorecards. The Idoma Nation will no longer allow a few individuals to enjoy the patrimony of our people to the detriment of the larger population.  

"It is no longer business as usual. Any non-performing lawmaker will not be voted back to NASS",  IR vowed

The organization stressed that it is non-partisan and its evaluation will be based strictly on performance and delivery to the people.

Also commenting on the issue, Dr  Edeh Agbo, a Public Analyst and Communications Expert  also took a swipe at federal lawmakers in Idomaland, including the Senator representing Benue South saying, "We are waiting for them. Their achievements are a far cry from what they collect as constituency allowances".

Senators with a whopping N6 billion and members of the House of Representatives members with over N3 billion done with such huge sum, claiming that members of the State Assembly with their meager Constituency   Service Allocations, CSA,   have impacted positively on their constituents more than some NASS members
