Benue Govt Pledges Partnership With MDCAN To Advance Healthcare Delivery.

Benue State Government has pledged to strengthened strategic partnership with Medical and Dental Consultants Association of Nigeria(MDCAN) to enhance  healthcare service delivery in State.

 State Commissioner for Health and Human Services, Dr. Paul Ejeh-Ogwuche made the pledge when he received a joint delegation of the Medical and Dental Consultants Association of Nigeria (MDCAN) and the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Federal Medical Centre ( FMC) Makurdi, at the Ministry headquarters. in Makurdi, Tuesday.

He noted that  the MDCAN and FMC Makurdi consultants remain the fulcrum of tertiary healthcare delivery in Benue State, insisting that strong collaboration between FMC Makurdi, the Benue State University Teaching Hospital, and other health institutions would  further strengthen the health sector in the State.

Dr. Ogwuche who  highlighted several of Governor Alia’s achievements in the health sector, including the upgrade and repositioning of the Benue State University Teaching Hospital, revitalization and equipping of primary health centres across rural communities; as well as enhanced welfare, training, and capacity-building initiatives for health workers and Improved maternal, newborn, and child health services, assured that more are the way.

According to him, Governor Alia has expanded investment in health manpower development and retention to curb brain drain and ensure sustainable quality care and  reaffirmed the ministry commitment towards providing an enabling, professional, and inclusive working environment for all healthcare providers in the state.

He thanked Rev. Fr. Dr. Hyacinth Alia, for the privilege to serve the state in that capacity.

Earlier, leader of the delegation, Dr. Elizabeth Arichi Etti who the Chairman of MDCAN and Head of the Obstetrics and Gynaecology Department at the  Makurdi.Federal Medical Centre Makurdi,

said the visit was to identify with the Commissioner.

She  described  the commissioner as a distinguished colleague whom the association is very  pride of in the medical profession.

 She expressed confidence that his leadership would accelerate reforms and enhance healthcare delivery across Benue State.

Other speakers, including the former Acting Chief Medical Director of the Federal University of Health Sciences Teaching Hospital, Otukpo, Professor Silas Ochejele, and former Executive Secretary of the Benue State Primary Health Care Board, Dr. Bem Ageda, commended Dr. Ogwuche for his professionalism, humility, and clear vision for strengthening the health sector
