From Gabriel Agbo, Makurdi
Gunmen suspected to be kidnappers have hijacked a commercial vehicle, killed the driver and kidnapped all passengers on board in Benue State.

Our correspondent gathered that the incidence happened on Sunday evening,  along the Ogobia–Adoka road in Otukpo Local Government Area of the State.

A local who spoke on condition of anonymity, told journalists in Makurdi on Monday, that  the armed men laid an ambush, forced the fully loaded vehicle off the road into the bush, and shot the driver identified as Arrow of God from Aila community in Agatu LGA before whiskey the passengers away to unknown destination.

The latest attack comes less than three weeks after armed men, believed to be robbers, attacked two police officers at a checkpoint along the same Ogobia–Adoka Road.

The officers, Inspector Amos Okoh and Inspector Joseph's Adowebo, were reportedly on routine patrol when they were assaulted by the gunmen.

Efforts to get reaction from executive chairman of Otukpo local government council, Mr. Maxwell Ogiri was unsuccessful as he could not respond to text or calls put across to him.

The Benue State command police public relations officer PPRO DSP Udeme Edet could not be reached also, as at the time of filing this report.
